San Juan, Puerto Rico.\u2013<\/strong> The Minister of Tourism<\/strong>, David Collado<\/strong>, stated that for the Dominican Republic “it is vital to continue improving air connectivity,” while leading this Wednesday’s inaugural flight of the new direct route between Santo Domingo and San Juan, operated by the Dominican airline Arajet<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor the country, it is vital to continue improving air connectivity; that’s why we are working to achieve the open skies treaty with the United States. Today, Arajet begins this important route to Puerto Rico, and will soon add others such as Chicago, Boston, and Orlando,\u201d expressed Collado, highlighting the impact of this expansion on the strengthening of tourism and regional trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight took off at 12:20 p.m. from Las Am\u00e9ricas International Airport<\/strong> and landed 40 minutes later at Luis Mu\u00f1oz Mar\u00edn Airport in San Juan. Arajet will operate this new connection with a frequency of four weekly flights: Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, Collado was accompanied by the CEO and founder of Arajet, V\u00edctor Pacheco M\u00e9ndez, who highlighted that this new route is the result of the open skies treaty with the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting June 6th, Arajet will also begin flights between Punta Cana and San Juan, with three weekly frequencies (Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays), thus increasing to seven weekly flights between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
