<\/p>\n\n\nLOS ANGELES<\/strong> \u2013 With a demolishing offense, Pete Alonso<\/strong> hit two home runs and drove in five runs to lead the New York Mets<\/strong> to a 6-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/strong>, on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.\n\n\n

You may be interested in:<\/strong> 35 Dominicans appear on the first ballot for the 2025 All-Star Game of Major League Baseball<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nThe Mets’ starting pitcher hit his 14th home run of the season<\/strong> in the eighth inning, a three-run blast that traveled 447 feet<\/strong> to the top of left field, thus sealing his great offensive night. In the first inning, he had already punished with another two-run homer, which gave the New Yorkers an early lead.\n\n\n

Right-handed pitcher Griffin Canning (6-2)<\/strong> shone on the mound with six scoreless innings<\/strong>, allowing only three hits, with seven strikeouts and one walk<\/strong>, achieving his first victory since May 5th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Dodgers’ starter, Tony Gonsolin (3-2)<\/strong>, worked five innings in which he allowed three runs \u2014two earned\u2014, with three hits, six strikeouts and three walks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mets took advantage of a defensive error by Kik\u00e9 Hern\u00e1ndez<\/strong> in the first inning to put runners on base. Then, the Dominican Juan Soto<\/strong> drove in Francisco Lindor<\/strong> with a run-scoring groundout before Alonso’s first home run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cuban Andy Pag\u00e9s<\/strong> avoided the shutout for the Dodgers with a solo home run in the ninth inning<\/strong> against Ryne Stanek. Pag\u00e9s was the most outstanding for Los Angeles, going 4-3 with a run scored and one RBI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mets’ bullpen also responded. In the seventh inning, Jos\u00e9 Castillo<\/strong> faced a serious threat with runners on first and second, but got out of the jam by striking out Dalton Rushing<\/strong> and Kik\u00e9 Hern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
