Bogot\u00e1.-<\/strong> Colombian politician Miguel Uribe Turbay<\/strong>, one of the presidential candidates for the Uribista Democratic Center party,<\/a> was shot this Saturday in an attack during a campaign event in Bogot\u00e1, local media reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack was carried out in the Modelia neighborhood, located in the west of Bogot\u00e1, and the politician was urgently transferred to a hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the first versions, Uribe Turbay received six bullet wounds and was taken to the Cl\u00ednica Colombia by his collaborators, who in videos released on social media, are seen carrying him amidst tears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first versions indicate that two individuals who apparently participated in the attack were arrested shortly after by the Police with the help of the community.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nUribe Turbay is a politician close to former President \u00c1lvaro Uribe and one of the most severe critics of Colombian President Gustavo Petro, especially for the deterioration of security in the country.\n\n\n

One of the first people to condemn the attack was the Colombian chancellor, Laura Sarabia.<\/p>\n\n\n“Violence can never be the way. I strongly condemn the attack against Miguel Uribe. I sincerely hope he is well and out of danger. Nothing justifies the use of violence in a society that seeks to build in peace,” expressed the chancellor on her X account.\n\nUribe Turbay was a Bogot\u00e1 councilman between 2012 and 2015, as well as Secretary of Government in the Mayor’s Office of Enrique Pe\u00f1alosa and since 2022 holds a seat in the Senate for the Democratic Center.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
