Colombia.-<\/strong> In an address broadcast this Sunday, President Gustavo Petro<\/strong> called on Colombian society to protect the under 15-year-old<\/strong> identified as the perpetrator of the attack that seriously injured Senator and presidential pre-candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe victim’s life is in good hands, and the life of the killer, who is a child\u2026 the State’s first responsibility is to care for the minor’s life, because he is a child. Even if it seems terrible to us\u2026 if we don’t do it, we will have no homeland. The supreme good of the nation is peace,\u201d<\/strong> Petro expressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Petro, \u201che is going to give the names\u201d<\/strong>, referring to the statements he would have made when captured.\n\nFurthermore, he emphasized that all actions of the State should focus on preserving the life<\/strong> of Senator Uribe, his recovery, and clarifying the attack, without falling into hate speech or political vendettas.\n\n\n

The presidential message was delivered amid national shock over the assassination attempt, which left the politician in critical condition after being shot in the head and chest while leading a campaign event in Bogot\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
