The health condition of Colombian senator and presidential pre-candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay, who was the victim this Saturday of an attack<\/a> with a firearm, “is of the utmost severity<\/strong> and the prognosis is reserved<\/strong>“, reported this Sunday the Santa Fe de Bogot\u00e1 Foundation in a statement<\/a>, hours after the politician underwent surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“After the procedures, neurosurgical and on the left thigh, he was transferred to intensive care for postoperative stabilization<\/strong>,” the organization said, assuring that the information is provided “under authorization from the family.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uribe was the target of an assassination attempt<\/a> in Bogot\u00e1<\/strong> that has moved the country and the international community<\/a>. The attack occurred on Saturday west of the Colombian capital, when the senator was participating in a political event in a sector of the Modelia park in the town of Fontib\u00f3n. According to witness accounts, the attacker approached the politician from behind<\/strong> and shot him at close range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician was hit by several shots, which caused him serious injuries between the neck and head. With traces of blood on his face<\/strong> and shirt, he was urgently transferred to the hospital of the Santa Fe Foundation of Bogot\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, confirmed that the attacker<\/a> “is a minor and is alive and captured” by the National Protection Unit. “He was paid, undoubtedly<\/strong>“, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The identity of the teenager has not been revealed<\/strong> to ensure the judicial process. However, it is reported that the minor has no prior record and was injured while escaping the scene of the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
