Buenos Aires.- <\/strong>Former Argentine President Cristina Fern\u00e1ndez <\/strong>(2007-2015) requested the Justice to serve the six-year prison sentence for the crime of fraudulent administration, ratified this Tuesday by the Supreme Court,<\/strong> at her home in the Constituci\u00f3n neighborhood, in Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n\n\nThe request, which EFE had access to, was formally presented by the former president’s lawyer, Alberto Beraldi<\/strong>, before the Oral Criminal Federal Court No. 2 – which in 2022 convicted Fern\u00e1ndez for irregularities in the awarding of road works – and indicates that the proposed address is the one currently inhabited by the Peronist leader in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Constituci\u00f3n.\n\n\n

“That our client be authorized to serve the custodial sentence imposed in the case under the modality of house arrest<\/strong>,” states the document submitted to the court. The dwelling is located on San Jos\u00e9 Street, in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe order was known one day after the Supreme Court upheld the six-year prison sentence and perpetual disqualification from holding public office against Fern\u00e1ndez, 72 years old.\n\nArgentine criminal law allows people over 70 years of age to access the benefit of house arrest<\/strong>, provided that certain conditions are met and it is authorized by the corresponding court.\n\nThe court gave him this Tuesday a period of five business days to appear before the courts of Comodoro Py for his detention. In parallel, it requested the Ministry of National Security of Argentina to assign, within 24 hours, a dependency of the federal forces that meets the appropriate conditions to accommodate the convicted person, taking into account her age, former president status and the attempted assassination she suffered in 2022.\n\n\n
