{"id":471007,"date":"2025-06-11T11:41:21","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T15:41:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/president-abinader-receives-recognition-from-the-ilo-in-geneva-for-support-of-workers-rights\/"},"modified":"2025-06-11T11:41:21","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T15:41:21","slug":"president-abinader-receives-recognition-from-the-ilo-in-geneva-for-support-of-workers-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/en\/dominican-news\/president-abinader-receives-recognition-from-the-ilo-in-geneva-for-support-of-workers-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"President Abinader receives recognition from the ILO in Geneva for support of workers&#8217; rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<strong>Geneva, Switzerland.-\u00a0President Luis Abinader<\/strong>\u00a0received recognition this morning within the framework of the\u00a0<strong>113th International Conference of the<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilo.org\/es\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ilo.org\/es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong> International Labour Organization<\/strong>\u00a0(ILO)<\/a>, with the presence of the\u00a0<strong>Dominican trade unions<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>international<\/strong>\u00a0organizations that group more than\u00a0<strong>180 million workers<\/strong>\u00a0worldwide.\u00a0\n\nThe recognition of President Abinader is for the <strong>constant and decisive support<\/strong> of his government, to the <strong>rights, dignity and well-being<\/strong> of the Dominican working class, strengthening social dialogue, and promoting <strong>human and labor<\/strong> development in the country.\n\nThis recognition was presented by <strong>Gabriel del R\u00edo<\/strong>, president of Human Development of the Autonomous Syndicalist Confederation Clasista <strong>(CASC)<\/strong>; <strong>Pepe Abreu<\/strong>, from the National Confederation of Trade Union Unity (CNUS), and <strong>Jacobo Ramos,<\/strong> from the National Confederation of Dominican Workers (CNTD), during the <strong>Annual Forum of the World Coalition for Social Justice,<\/strong> as part of the 113th International Labour Conference of the ILO.\n\nIn thanking for the recognition, the Dominican president said that it leads him to a <strong>greater commitment<\/strong> to continue moving forward with the country, advancing with the <strong>best practices<\/strong>, improving the <strong>quality of life<\/strong> of all Dominicans and for the good of democracy.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The president highlighted the&nbsp;<strong>good relations<\/strong>&nbsp;existing between his government, both with the&nbsp;<strong>union sector<\/strong>, and the&nbsp;<strong>employers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nIn that sense, he said that those good relations are what have made the <strong>agreements and understanding<\/strong> possible.\n\nThe Dominican head of state showed himself to be <strong>in favor of dialogue<\/strong>, indicating that this does not mean that there are no debates. It is the place to discuss differences, to <strong>reach an agreement.<\/strong>\n\nPresident Abinader defended the <strong>agreement<\/strong> reached on <strong>salary matters<\/strong>, stating that: \u201c<em>It is not a personal achievement. That would not have been achieved if we did not have a union sector that defends its interests but is prudent, and a business sector that defends its<\/em>\u00a0interests but with social commitments\u201d.\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ab.deultimominuto.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Post-de-Instagram-Feliz-Cumpleanos-Sencillo-Minimalista-Azul-1000-x-500-px-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-487955\" style=\"width:500px;height:auto\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Representatives of movements and trade union organizations present<\/strong> <strong>during the recognition<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\nAlong with representatives of the Dominican trade union movement, representatives of international trade union organizations also participated, such as <strong>Jordania Ure\u00f1a,<\/strong> Deputy General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), and <strong>Cicero Pereira Da Silva,<\/strong> Secretary of Education and Training of the Trade Union Confederation of the Americas (TUCA), entities that bring together more than 180 million workers worldwide.\n\nIn representation of the ILO, <strong>Mar\u00eda Paz<\/strong>, principal advisor for Latin America to the director of this entity, was present at the recognition of President Abinader.\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You may be interested in: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ab.deultimominuto.net\/nacionales\/abinader-llega-a-ginebra\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ab.deultimominuto.net\/nacionales\/abinader-llega-a-ginebra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abinader arrives in Geneva to participate in the Annual Forum of the World Coalition for Social Justice<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nAlso, <strong>Mar\u00eda Helena Andr\u00e9<\/strong>, director of the ILO Workers&#8217; <strong>Mario Estuardo Pujols Ortiz,<\/strong> Executive Vice President of the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic, and <strong>Laura Pe\u00f1a Izquierdo<\/strong>, president of the Employers&#8217; Confederation of the Dominican Republic (Copardom).\n\nDuring the recognition of President Abinader, he was accompanied by the First Lady, <strong>Raquel Arbaje;<\/strong> the Minister of Labor, <strong>Eddy Olivares<\/strong>;
