Santo Domingo.-<\/strong> Amidst a competitive landscape, the Dominican Republic’s poultry industry has managed to position itself as the main proportional exporter of eggs in Latin America, according to the report Productive Data Latam 2024, prepared by the Latin American Egg Institute (ILH)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\nThe document analyzes the sector’s behavior in 18 countries and places the Dominican Republic at the top for its export capacity, with more than 820 million eggs sent abroad each year, representing more than 20% of its national production. This figure puts the country above traditional powers like Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico.\n\nFurthermore, almost half of the eggs exported throughout Latin America come from Dominican territory, an achievement that demonstrates the level of technification, biosecurity, and efficiency that the sector has reached in recent years.\n\nThe price per dozen eggs in the Dominican Republic is the lowest in the region, averaging just US$1.87. This affordability does not compromise the quality of the product, but rather responds to an industry with good planning, controlled costs, and a long-term vision.\n\n\n

High local demand<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\nThe domestic market also remains strong. The country is among the top five with the highest per capita consumption of eggs, with 293 units per person each year, which shows that, despite export success, production also responds to the national food need.\n\nThe report indicates that there is room to improve efficiency without increasing the number of birds, simply by optimizing feeding, genetic management, and production conditions.\n\n\n
