Santo Domingo.\u2013<\/strong> The Fourth Collegiate Tribunal of the National District<\/strong> declared five of the accused guilty this Friday for the death of the young David de los Santos, which occurred in April 2022 after being arrested by the National Police and later taken to a detachment in the \u00c1gora Mall shopping center.<\/p>\n\n\nAgents Germ\u00e1n Garc\u00eda and Alfonso Decena were found guilty of violating articles 186 and 198 of the Dominican Penal Code, related to acts of violence against persons in custody, and sentenced to 10 years in prison, in addition to the payment of legal costs.\n\n\n

Read more: Alert issued against those accused of murder in Herrera<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\nMeanwhile, civilians Carlos Mart\u00ednez, Michael P\u00e9rez Ramos, and Santiago Mateo Victoriano were sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of acts of torture and barbarity, in accordance with articles 303, 309, and 309-4 of the Penal Code. These three were held in the same cell where David was assaulted.\n\nThe court acquitted seven other defendants: Domingo Alberto Rodr\u00edguez S\u00e1ez, Manuel Gonz\u00e1lez, \u00c1lvaro Beltr\u00e1n, Ampriody Montero, Juan Reyes and Yuvaris M\u00e9ndez, after considering the evidence against them insufficient.\n\nRegarding the civil action, the judges partially accepted the complaint filed by the victim’s family and ordered compensation of five million pesos against police officers Garc\u00eda and Decena, and ten million against the three convicted civilians, who must also cover the civil costs of the process.\n\nThe full reading of the sentence was set for Monday, July 28th at 2:00 PM.
