These conditions could occur over sectors of Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde, Dajabón, Monte Cristi, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor and Sánchez Ramírez, among other locations.

Recommendations for the heat

Given the high temperatures and the persistence of Saharan dust, the authorities recommend:

Drink enough water during the day.

Wear light-colored and light clothing.

Avoid prolonged sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Pay special attention to children, the elderly, and people with heat-sensitive health conditions.

Outlook for Tuesday and Wednesday

For this Tuesday, similar conditions are expected in the morning, with little cloud cover and little change in temperatures. However, in the afternoon passing showers and scattered thunderstorms could be recorded over points of the southeast, Central Mountain Range and the border area, as a result of local factors.

On Wednesday, however, a slight variation is anticipated due to the approach of a weak trough, which would cause cloud cover increases with local rains and possible thunderstorms over provinces such as La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, Samaná, Monte Plata, La Vega, Santiago, Monseñor Nouel, San José de Ocoa, Azua and San Juan.

Weather by regions

National District and Santo Domingo: mostly sunny and grayish sky, with high thermal sensation.

North Zone (Santiago, Monte Cristi, Puerto Plata): sky between clear and partly cloudy, with sporadic showers in isolated points.

East and Southeast Region: hot weather, little cloudiness, mostly dry conditions.

South and Southwest Region: clear sky, with high solar radiation.

Central Mountain Range: partial cloudiness in the afternoon with possible local rains.

Summary: The anticyclonic system, along with Saharan dust particles, will continue to limit significant rainfall in much of the country. Hot temperatures, hazy skies, and only a few isolated showers are expected in mountainous and border regions.
