Although it sounds like an old western movie, it is a serious bet on alternatives to the dollar in times of inflation and economic concern.\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is it about?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\nThe <strong>House Bill 1056<\/strong> law, promoted by Republican Representative Mark Dorazio, allows Texans to use gold and silver to pay for goods and services, as long as both parties agree.\n\nIt&#8217;s not about taking coins or ingots to the store. The system will be managed by the <strong>Texas Bullion Depository<\/strong>, where users can store precious metals and pay with their value through an app or debit card, which converts that value to dollars at the time of purchase.\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What about the dollar?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\nThe dollar remains the main currency. However, this law promotes an alternative path to the traditional financial system, different even from cryptocurrencies, as it is based on <strong>physical assets backed by the State<\/strong>.\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why does Texas do it?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To reduce reliance on fiat money.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a response to inflation and economic uncertainty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To offer more financial options.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For a conservative vision of economic sovereignty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\nTexas was already a pioneer in creating the first state depository of precious metals in the U.S. Now, it takes a further step by allowing its direct use in everyday transactions.\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is it working yet?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\nNot yet. The law has already been signed, but the technical system \u2014including app and cards\u2014 is still under development.
