Bangkok.-<\/strong> Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Friday that the humanitarian situation in Gaza “has exceeded the world’s worst fears,”<\/strong> while the UN<\/a> and NGOs warn about the lack of food in the Strip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Australian Government’s position is clear: every innocent life matters. Every Israeli. Every Palestinian. This conflict has stolen too many innocent lives. Tens of thousands of civilians are dead and children are starving,”<\/strong> Albanese pointed out in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The denial of aid by Israel and the killing of civilians, including children, who seek access to water and food cannot be defended or ignored,” he remarked.\n\nDoctors Without Borders warned this Thursday that “the situation is more desperate than ever” because many patients are no longer receiving food in the health centers of the Gaza Strip, a sentiment echoed on X by the director of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini.\n\nThe Ministry of Health in the Strip reported that hunger has claimed the lives of 59 Palestinians in Gaza so far in 2025.\n\nAustralia supports efforts to achieve an “immediate and permanent ceasefire” and defends the two-state solution “because a just and lasting peace depends on it,” the Australian Prime Minister pointed out.\n\nOn Monday, the foreign ministers of 25 countries and a European Union (EU) commissioner, including Australia, urgently requested the Israeli government to end the war in Gaza and lift restrictions on humanitarian aid.\n\nAlbanese’s position comes after the announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron that he will recognize the Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly next September.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
