Santo Domingo.\u2013<\/strong> Businessman Luis Beltr\u00e9<\/strong> reported this Monday that he was the victim of a millionaire scam by his partner, the civil engineer \u00c1ngel Carlos Schiffino Peralta, <\/strong>in the apartment project \u201cResidencial Coco Beach\u201d<\/strong>, located in B\u00e1varo, La Altagracia province.<\/p>\n\n\nBeltr\u00e9 claims that, after building a 40-apartment building with Schiffino<\/strong>, 20 for each according to the initial agreement, his partner sold six of the units that corresponded to him without his permission and has also evicted the owners of another 14 that he had already legally sold.\n\n\n

\u201cWe put up the money, built the building together, but now my partner has not only sold six apartments that belong to me, but has illegally evicted those who had already bought the other 14\u201d<\/strong>, expressed Beltr\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\nThe businessman estimates that the six units sold without his consent are valued between RD$64 and RD$142 million pesos, depending on the individual value of each apartment, which ranges from 180 thousand to 220 thousand dollars.\n\nIn addition to accusing Schiffino Peralta of misappropriating the apartments, Beltr\u00e9 denounced that the affected buyers have been threatened by an alleged intermediary, \u00c1mbar Brito, who had warned them that they have the backing of “high instances of power in the Dominican Republic”.\n\nBeltr\u00e9’s lawyer, Blas Abreu, explained that for five months they have maintained a complaint for fraud, breach of trust and association of wrongdoers in the National District Attorney’s Office, but the process has not advanced.\n\n“We have gone again and again, but there is no progress. Everything seems to indicate that there are obstacles that seek to stop the case,” Abreu assured, who asked the prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso to intervene so that a transparent investigation is carried out.\n\nThose affected have also joined the petition, requesting access to the 20 apartments which, according to Beltr\u00e9, are part of their investment and were legally sold to buyers, many of them Dominicans who returned to the country after years of working abroad.\n\n“This is not only a scam against me, it’s a blow to the legal security of our country,” concluded Luis Beltr\u00e9.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
