The ministry announced that in the coming days it will offer an <strong>official report<\/strong> with the results of the investigation and details about the bacteria.\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is the &#8220;flesh-eater&#8221;?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\nThe so-called \u201cflesh-eating bacteria\u201d is associated with <em>Vibrio vulnificus<\/em>, a microorganism capable of causing <strong>necrotizing fasciitis<\/strong>, a serious infection in which the affected tissue begins to die rapidly.\n\nAccording to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the bacteria can enter the body through open wounds in the skin that come into contact with contaminated water, or by consuming contaminated food, especially raw or undercooked seafood such as oysters.
