Subsequently, Zelensky will participate in video conferences with the heads of state and government of the United Kingdom, France, Finland, Poland, Italy, with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Council, Ant\u00f3nio Costa, and with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte.<\/p>\n<p>Conversations with Trump and his vice president, JD Vance, are also planned, although it has not been confirmed whether Zelensky will be present at the virtual meeting with both. After the press conference, Merz and Zelensky will hold talks with the leaders of the so-called Volunteer Coalition, led by France and the United Kingdom, to assess the results of the talks.<\/p>\n<p>Merz interrupted his vacation to convene this round of contacts with the aim of influencing Trump and to consider the Ukrainian and European perspective before the meeting with Putin, as well as the possibility of increasing pressure on Russia if it does not accept a ceasefire.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. presidential spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt warned that Friday&#8217;s summit is not aimed at reaching an immediate peace agreement. &#8220;This is a listening exercise for the president (Trump).
