He must serve his sentence at the Najayo-Hombres Correctional Center<\/strong>.\n\nIn the same ruling, the court sentenced the former director of the State Works Supervisory Engineers Office (OISOE), Francisco Pag\u00e1n<\/strong>, to five years of suspended imprisonment<\/strong>, after accepting the collaboration agreement he signed with the Public Ministry.\n\n\n

On the other hand, Alexis Medina’s sister, Carmen Magalys Medina S\u00e1nchez<\/strong>, former president of the Patrimonial Fund of Reformed Companies (Fonper), was acquitted<\/strong>, as was Fernando Rosa<\/strong>, former director of the same organization, and other implicated parties. Also convicted were Jos\u00e9 Dolores Santana Carmona<\/strong>, to six years in prison in Najayo-Hombres<\/strong>; Wascar Bernab\u00e9 M\u00e9ndez<\/strong>, Paola Molina Suazo<\/strong> and Mart\u00edn Monte de Oca<\/strong>, each to five years in prison in Najayo<\/strong>; while V\u00edctor Mat\u00edas Encarnaci\u00f3n Montero<\/strong> was sentenced to five years of suspended prison and a fine of RD$500,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\nIn contrast, judges Claribel Nivar Arias<\/strong> (president of the court), Yissel Soto<\/strong> and Clara Sobeida Castillo<\/strong> decided to acquit several of the accused, including Lina de la Cruz<\/strong>, Rafael Antonio Germos\u00e9n<\/strong>, Fulvio Antonio G\u00f3mez<\/strong>, Liny Valenzuela<\/strong>, Aquiles Alejandro Cristofer<\/strong> and Antonio Florentino M\u00e9ndez<\/strong>, due to insufficient evidence.\n\nIn the case of the former Minister of Public Health, Freddy Hidalgo<\/strong>, the court ruled a \u201cno ha lugar\u201d<\/strong>, determining that there was not enough evidence to establish a criminal offense against him.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
