“He will come to Washington D.C., to the Oval Office, on Monday afternoon. If all goes well, we will schedule a meeting with President Putin. Potentially, millions of lives will be saved,” wrote the U.S. president.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nTrump celebrated on social media both his meeting with Putin and his phone conversation with Zelensky, showing a shift in his stance. While on Friday, from Air Force One, he had advocated for a “quick” ceasefire, this Saturday he went further by directly calling for a “peace agreement” as the only way to end the war.\n\n“Everyone agreed that the best way to end the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine is to reach a peace agreement directly, and not just a ceasefire, which is often not respected,” he stated.\n\nFor his part, Zelensky revealed that he had a personal chat with Trump<\/strong>, in addition to a joint call with other European leaders that lasted for more than an hour and a half. The Ukrainian president insisted on the need for Europe to actively participate in any negotiation process. \u201cIt is important that Europeans are involved at every stage to ensure reliable security guarantees along with the United States\u201d, he stressed.\n\nThe meeting in Alaska between Trump and Putin, held on Friday at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, lasted for almost three hours and was marked by international expectation. Although both leaders claimed to have reached an “understanding”, no concrete agreements were announced. “There is no deal until there is a deal,” Trump summarized in the joint press conference.\n\n\n
