Men’s Athletics<\/p>\n\n\nIn the Sunday’s event, the athletics discipline opened its competitions with more than 100 participants and closed after a long day of competition.\n\nIn a test run, a 5-kilometer race on flat terrain, with the participation of 67 athletes, men’s master category, Luis Almonte, (La Pira\u00f1a), from the El Bronx team, conquered the Gold, by registering an official time of 0:20:19.\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\nDennis Bautista, with a time of 0:21:23, from the New Jersey team, took the Silver medal and V\u00edctor Rosa, from the Manhhatan team, conquered the Bronze, finishing in third place with an official time of 0:22:22.\n\n\n

Female Master Category<\/p>\n\n\nAriela Ortiz, from the El Bronx team, won the Gold medal, with an official time of 0:22:50.
Cristina Rodr\u00edguez, from the New Jersey team, took the Silver medal, after reaching the finish line at 0:24:55 and Beneranda \u00c1vila, from El Bronx, Bronze medal, with a time of 0:25:50.\n\nIn the women’s 400-meter flat race, Ambar Fulgencio soared high, conquering the Gold medal.\n\nInfants and juveniles also ran in the two branches, male and female.\n\nThe competition took place at Van Cortland Park Running Track, in The Bronx, with David N\u00fa\u00f1ez, race director.\n\n\n

Women’s Volleyball<\/p>\n\n\nThe modern court of Gregorio Luper\u00f3n High School in Upper Manhattan (Washington Heights) served as the setting for the beginning of this discipline.\n\nThe Manhattan girls obtained two victories on Sunday morning by defeating Brooklyn 3-0 and Queens, 2-1.\n\nIt was announced that next Thursday this activity continues with matches between the delegations of The Bronx and Union City, New Jersey, on the court of the modern and colorful Riverbank State Park, Manhattan.\n\nIt was also reported that on the same day (Thursday), and in the same place, the men’s event will begin.\n\nDominoes, Chess and board\n\nThe opening of these sports was a historic event, in Plaza de las Am\u00e9ricas, 175th Street, between Broadway and Wadsworth Avenues, Manhattan.\n\nAmong hundreds of spectators, who came to the Plaza and took advantage of the summery temperature to dance to the rhythms of Son, Salsa, merengue and bachata, they saw how more than 50 Domino players, distributed in 20 tables, played their tiles, seeking triumph through concentration, memory, logical reasoning and strategic thinking, skills that are developed and perfected with practice.\n\nChess, a mental sport of strategy, also moved dozens of enthusiasts, who gathered to play at 12 tables.\n\nOne of the competitors, who won a Gold medal, said that this game is about giving “checkmate” to the opponent’s king, threatening his position in a way that he cannot escape.\n\nCheckers, was also a great event.
