<\/p>\n\n\nCHICAGO.<\/strong> \u2013 Dominican Freddy Peralta<\/strong> once again showed why he is the ace of the Milwaukee Brewers. The right-hander earned his 15th win of the season<\/strong>, the most in all of Major League Baseball, and led the 7-0 shutout over the Chicago Cubs in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader at Wrigley Field<\/strong>.\n\n\n

The starter worked six scoreless innings<\/strong>, overcoming a brief loss of control in the fourth inning and limiting the Cubs’ bats, who were hamstrung throughout the afternoon.\n\nThe offensive support came with solo home runs from Brice Turang<\/strong> and Caleb Durbin<\/strong>, who also drove in another run each to give the Brewers’ offense a breather.\n\n\n

Brewers, unstoppable at the Central<\/h3>\n\n\nMilwaukee barely saw their record streak of 14 consecutive victories<\/strong> cut short on Sunday in Cincinnati, but quickly got back on the winning track. Since June 19, when the Cubs dominated the division with a 5.5-game lead, the story has changed dramatically: the Brewers have a record of 39-10<\/strong>, while Chicago is playing for 25-25, which has put Milwaukee with a 9.0-game lead<\/strong> in the National League Central before Monday night’s second game.\n\n\u201cWe\u2019ve spent a lot of time planning the pitching,<\/strong>\u201d said general manager Matt Arnold<\/strong>. \u201cBut there are always factors that change from day to day.
