<\/p>\n\n\nChiang Mai, Thailand.-<\/strong>\u00a0The Dominican Republic’s women’s sextet (Queens of the Caribbean) advanced early this Monday morning to the second round of the Volleyball World Championship, after defeating Mexico in three consecutive sets (25-15, 25-17 and 25-20), to put their record at (2-0) in a match corresponding to Group F, in the event organized by the International Volleyball Federation.\n\n\n

Mexico now has a record of 0-2. The Caribbean team has the support of the Ministry of Sports and GBC Pharmacies.\n\nThe Caribe\u00f1as’ attack was led by captain Brayelin Mart\u00ednez with 22 points, followed by Yonkaira Pe\u00f1a with 11 points, Gaila Gonz\u00e1lez contributed 8 points and Jineirys Mart\u00ednez finished with six.\n\nIn the defeat, Sof\u00eda Alvarado was the best with 12 units, Jocelyn Urias scored five, as did Melenie Parra.\n\nThe winners navigated the first two quarters without difficulty, where they dominated their opponents in all aspects of the game.\n\nIn the first game, a spike by Yonkaira Pe\u00f1a put the score at 19-14 and from then on, the Dominicans went on a long 6-1 rally that took the Mexicans out of the court.\n\nIn the second set, the Criollas started very strong with a 5-0 lead, and although the defeated team recovered, the Queens of the Caribbean were always ahead on the scoreboard.\n\nBrenda Castillo helped a lot in counterattacks; setter Camila de la Rosa had a good performance distributing the ball and making good combinations with Jineirys Mart\u00ednez.\n\nIn the third set, Mexico, with a strong serve, put up a better fight against the Dominicans, however, the Dominican Republic, with strong attacks from Brayelin Mart\u00ednez, Yonkaira Pe\u00f1a and Gaila Gonz\u00e1lez, managed to make a 3-0 rally twice and another of 5-0 against their opponents, which was lethal in the result.\n\nThe leader said they are very happy because the first objective of advancing to the second round was achieved and for having defeated Mexico 3-0, a team they respect a lot and that always puts up good matches.\n\n“Now we’re going to battle every point and every game in the second round,” insisted Marcos.\n\n\n
