The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, “effusively” celebrated this Friday the 200th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations “with the sister homeland” of Brazil.<\/p>\n
In a note published on the website of the Portuguese Presidency, Rebelo de Sousa stressed that it has been “200 years of fraternity between peoples, states, histories, cultures, social, economic and political experiences”.<\/p>\n
“I especially greet the millions of Brazilians and Portuguese who, over these two centuries, in Brazil, in Portugal, around the world, have built a community that is now affirmed” in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and “in many other universal institutions.”<\/p>\n
In the words of the leader, Portugal and Brazil are “cornerstones in the dialogue between continents for the construction of a better, more peaceful, more just, and more humane world.”<\/p>\n
