Agreement will boost educational programs in digital skills<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\nSanto Domingo<\/strong>.- The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL<\/a>) and the Dominican Republic Chapter of Internet Society (ISOC-DO) signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of promoting the development, access, inclusion and open and universal use of the internet, as well as fostering the adoption of new information and communication technologies in the country.\u00a0\n\nThis agreement was signed by the president of the Board of Directors of INDOTEL, Guido G\u00f3mez Mazara, and the president of ISOC-DO, Osvaldo Larancuent, who highlighted that facilitating access to the internet for people is a catalyst to boost their social and economic progress. \n\nG\u00f3mez Mazara highlighted the need to promote digital literacy in the country and considered the collaboration of the Internet Society as a fundamental support to expand initiatives focused on closing the digital divide and the access and meaningful use of connectivity.\n\n\n

\u201cInternet Society ser\u00e1 un aliado fundamental en lo que es el objetivo esencial de nuestra gesti\u00f3n: colocar la tecnolog\u00eda al servicio de la gente. Como \u00f3rgano institucional que regula, tenemos el compromiso de seguir promoviendo la posibilidad de que m\u00e1s dominicanos y dominicanas, no solo tengan el acceso, sino que le den una utilidad efectiva a lo \u00a0que se llama conectividad significativa, y este acuerdo ser\u00e1 fundamental para lograrlo\u201d, <\/p>enfatiz\u00f3.<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\nFor his part, Larancuent expressed his satisfaction with the agreement reached, highlighting the importance of collaboration with INDOTEL, and emphasized the initiatives that the telecommunications regulatory body is promoting to have a more connected and digitally literate country.\n\n\n

“We applaud the initiatives that INDOTEL is developing, through its president, Guido G\u00f3mez, who has been promoting connectivity in rural areas where it is not clearly accessed. This is an opportunity to reduce the digital divide in the Dominican Republic,” he indicated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This agreement establishes a joint agenda to promote projects aimed at reducing the digital divide, expanding connectivity in vulnerable areas, and developing educational programs in digital skills. <\/p>\n\n\nYou can also read: ADP and INDOTEL sign agreement to promote digital training in the teaching profession<\/a>\n\nIn addition, it contemplates the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure, the development of training programs and technological appropriation, academic and scientific cooperation in digital matters, promoting innovation and the adoption of international standards, as well as the organization of forums and events on internet governance, cybersecurity and digital transformation. \n\nG\u00f3mez Mazara was accompanied by the directors of the Legal Department, Domingo Rojas; International Affairs, Amparo Arango; Human Management, Juan Liranzo; Administrative, Mayra Coch\u00f3n; of the BID Project Execution Unit, Jorge Roques; Telecommunications Development Fund, Pedro Taveras; Cybersecurity, C\u00e9sar Molin\u00e9, among other collaborators of the institution.\n\nAlso participated the vice president of the Dominican Republic Chapter of Internet Society, Juan Matos.\n\n\n
