Santo Domingo. \u2013<\/strong> The Sixth Instruction Court of the National District<\/strong> issued an order to open a trial against the president and treasurer of the Dominican Modern Pentathlon Federation (Fedopem), Freddy N\u00fa\u00f1ez Jorge and Evaristo Ozoria Rodr\u00edguez (An\u00edbal)<\/strong>, accused of aggravated fraud, criminal association, forgery of documents and, in the case of N\u00fa\u00f1ez, also of money laundering.<\/p>\n\n\nThe decision was adopted at the request of the Public Ministry, after considering that there are sufficient elements that point to a possible conviction. The court admitted the evidence presented by the parties, recognized the Ministry of Sports<\/strong> and Fedopem itself as victims, and declared inadmissible the complaint filed by several athletes for not demonstrating quality or harm.\n\n\n

The investigations included raids in Santo Domingo, Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez and at the federation’s offices in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, where documents and other evidence were seized.\n\nThis process, considered the first major corruption case in Dominican sports, indicates that the directors used public funds to cover personal expenses, issued irregular checks, falsified justification concepts, and presented fraudulent maneuvers in the accountability reports, in order to continue receiving state resources.\n\nN\u00fa\u00f1ez and Ozoria will face trial for crimes contemplated in the Constitution, the Penal Code, and Law 155-17 on Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
