You may be interested in<\/strong>: Trump sees possibility of “saving” TikTok<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nThis is the fourth time Trump has postponed the ban on TikTok, after having done so in January, April and June of this year.\n\nThe measure comes after the agreement reached on Monday in Madrid between U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng.\n\nAccording to Washington, the agreement will allow TikTok’s US subsidiary, with some 150 million active users out of the 1.5 billion that the popular short video platform has worldwide, to be US-owned, although the Chinese delegation did not go into details about it.\n\nThe law, approved by Congress last year, requires ByteDance to completely divest itself from TikTok to prevent the Chinese government from accessing the data of US users, something that China vehemently denies.\n\nTrump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to hold a phone conversation on Friday to discuss the agreement.\n\nDuring his first term, Trump was openly critical of TikTok for national security reasons, but currently views the platform more favorably, considering that it allowed him to connect with young people during the election campaign.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
