<\/p>\n\n\nSanto Domingo.<\/strong> \u2013 Olympic and world judoka Juan Carlos Jacinto<\/strong> will enter the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame<\/strong> in the Class of 2025, becoming the sixth judo athlete<\/strong> to achieve sports immortality in the country.\n\nYou may be interested in: Verlander shines and Jerar Encarnaci\u00f3n and Rafael Devers decide Giants’ victory in extras<\/a>\n\nThe choice of Jacinto was announced by Dr. Dionisio Guzm\u00e1n<\/strong>, president of the Permanent Committee of the Hall of Fame, as part of the 59th Exaltation Ceremony<\/strong>, which will be held on Sunday, November 16, in the auditorium of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.\n\n\n

An Exemplary Career<\/h3>\n\n\nJacinto, born in San Crist\u00f3bal on June 2, 1978, represented the national judo team for 14 years<\/strong>, achieving historic results for the discipline:\n\n\n

  • Only Dominican judoka to participate in three Olympic Games<\/strong> (Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Competitor in four World Championships<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Double silver medalist in Central American and Caribbean Games<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Bronze medalist in the Pan American Games of Winnipeg 1999<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Winner of 15 continental medals<\/strong>, nine in individual and six in teams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\nAt the local level, he accumulated multiple national and military titles, establishing himself as a reference and captain both in the national team and in the Dominican Navy<\/strong>.\n\n\n

    A New Judo Immortal<\/h3>\n\n\nJacinto will join a select list of judokas inducted into the Hall of Fame: Radham\u00e9s Lora (1992), Juan Chalas (2003), Dulce Mar\u00eda Pi\u00f1a (2012), Andrea Hern\u00e1ndez (2014), Jos\u00e9 Vicbart Geraldino (2018) and Eleucadia Vargas (2022)<\/strong>.\n\n\n

    2025 Hall of Fame Class<\/h3>\n\n\nThe former athlete will share the ceremony with other already confirmed honorees: the promoters Gonzalo Mej\u00eda<\/strong> (tennis) and Beato Miguel Cruz<\/strong> (volleyball); the boxer Joan Guzm\u00e1n<\/strong>; and former Major League Baseball players Jos\u00e9 Reyes, Edwin Encarnaci\u00f3n and Jos\u00e9 Offerman<\/strong>.\n\nThe event will have businessman and sportsman Manuel Estrella<\/strong> as honorary president.\n\n\n
