It is reported that New Fortress Energy is facing serious liquidity problems, with only US$551 million in cash available and a total debt of US$9 billion.<\/p>\n
The company’s situation is critical because, if the 2026 notes are not fully paid before July of that year, the early maturity of US$5,000 million could be triggered, highlights an analysis published by Quantinnova on Seeking Alpha.<\/p>\n
Even an eventual sale of assets for US$2,000 million would only offer temporary relief, but would erode the company’s profitability and cash flow.<\/p>\n
NFE signed in January of this year a three-year lease agreement with Energ\u00eda 2000 S.A., to operate a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) called Energos Freeze, with a capacity of 125,000 m\u00b3 in the port of Pepillo Salcedo (Manzanillo)<\/p>\n
New Fortress Energy’s operations for Energ\u00eda 2000 should begin in September 2025, but its financial situation casts doubt on its ability to execute the agreement it signed.<\/p>\n
New Fortress Energy is to provide the regasification of liquefied natural gas (LNG), which will serve as an input for electricity generation and also for industrial demand.<\/p>\n
