The General Assembly of the UN<\/a>, which begins its 80th session tomorrow, will be attended by 89 heads of state, five vice presidents, 43 heads of government and a crown prince, said on Monday the spokesman for the general secretariat, St\u00e9phane Dujarric.<\/p>\n

The remaining 193 countries with seats at the UN will be represented by their Foreign Ministers or by a lower-ranking official.<\/p>\n

1,642 bilateral meetings have been scheduled between these heads of delegations, while the Secretary-General, Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, usually meets with the vast majority of heads of delegations during this week, considered the great forum of world diplomacy.<\/p>\n

One of the most anticipated meetings is the one that Guterres will hold with the American president, Donald Trump, with whom he has not spoken – not even by phone – for more than ten months. Trump has distinguished himself in his nine months at the head of the Government by his attacks on the United Nations.<\/p>\n

It is unlikely that Guterres will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has not answered his calls since October 7, 2023, when the Hamas terrorist attack took place, which Israel used to declare a war against Gaza of unknown magnitude in this century.<\/p>\n
