Santo Domingo, R.D.<\/strong> \u2013 The Emergency Operations Center (COE)<\/strong> reported this Thursday that it has expanded the alert levels in several provinces of the country, due to the effects of an active tropical wave combined with a trough at different levels of the troposphere, which maintain atmospheric conditions loaded with humidity and instability.<\/p>\n

According to the entity’s bulletin, moderate to heavy showers are expected, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts, mainly during the afternoon and evening, in provinces such as La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macor\u00eds, Duarte, Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez, Espaillat, Puerto Plata, Monte Plata, Peravia, San Crist\u00f3bal, Greater Santo Domingo, as well as in Monse\u00f1or Nouel, La Vega, Santiago, San Juan, El\u00edas Pi\u00f1a, Independencia and Barahona.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The emergency agency maintains 9 provinces on yellow alert<\/strong>: Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez, San Pedro de Macor\u00eds, La Altagracia, El Seibo, La Romana, Hato Mayor and Saman\u00e1.<\/p>\n

While 7 provinces are on green alert<\/strong>: Barahona, San Juan, Azua, Monte Plata, Peravia, San Crist\u00f3bal and San Jos\u00e9 de Ocoa.<\/p>\n

The COE warned of possible rises in rivers, streams, and ravines, as well as flash and urban floods. In addition, it alerted operators of small and medium-sized vessels on the Atlantic coast, from Cabo Enga\u00f1o (La Altagracia) to Cabo Franc\u00e9s Viejo (Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez), to navigate with caution and not venture out to sea due to the deterioration of the waves.<\/p>\n
