U.S. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth<\/a>, convened an urgent meeting of senior military officials at a Marine Corps base in Virginia, the reason for which is unknown, according to what was reported this Thursday by the local newspaper The Washington Post.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of generals and admirals stationed around the world are called to the meeting, which will take place next week. After consulting with more than a dozen people familiar with the matter, the media described it as a “highly unusual” summons.<\/p>\n

In fact, some sources indicated that this unprecedented order raised security concerns. “People are very worried. They have no idea what it means,” said one person.<\/p>\n

“Are we pulling all the generals and first-class officers out of the Pacific right now?” questioned an anonymous U.S. official. “This is all strange,” he added.<\/p>\n

However, the ruling does not apply to senior military officers holding General Staff positions.<\/p>\n

U.S. media speculates that this measure is linked to the massive changes that the Donald Trump Administration has recently made in the Pentagon. In addition, it coincides with the new national defense strategy proposed in Washington.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of the month, Trump signed an executive order that granted the Department of Defense the title of Department of War. “I think it’s a much more appropriate name, especially in light of the current situation in the world,” he stated when announcing the measure.<\/p>\n
