Between 2016 and 2024, the value of the global trade in fashion goods increased from US$ 1.30 trillion to US$ 1.78 trillion, showing resilience in the face of crises and adapting to new trends such as circular fashion and digitalization.\n\nSince assuming the executive direction of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro Disla has driven a strategic vision focused on the diversification of Dominican exports, promoting non-traditional sectors with high international potential. In this context, she has prioritized the development of the fashion sector in the Dominican Republic, with the purpose of strengthening and making visible this creative industry as an essential component within the country&#8217;s exportable offer.\n\nThe study, presented by Carolina P\u00e9rez, director of the Market Intelligence department of ProDominicana, highlights the importance of technical training as a pillar of competitiveness. In 2024, INFOTEP trained more than 8,500 people in areas related to fashion and clothing, of which 73% were women, consolidating the female role in the industry and strengthening the base of specialized labor.\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Main exporting provinces<\/p>\n\n\nMajor cities like Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macor\u00eds, and San Crist\u00f3bal join the collective effort of provinces like Santiago, La Vega, La Romana, and many more that take our talent to an international level.\n\nStudio Updates\n\nIn July 2025, the Dominican Republic achieved a historic milestone with the obtaining of the International Registration of the Denomination of Origin of Larimar Barahona, a certification that guarantees the authenticity and unique quality of this semiprecious stone exclusive to the country.\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This achievement reinforces its positioning in the global market for jewelry and luxury fashion, and is complemented by the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Mines in the valorization of larimar and its consolidation as a high-quality gem. Between January and June 2025, 177,540 pounds of larimar were exported, more than double that recorded in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\nLikewise, e-commerce has established itself as a strategic path to project Dominican fashion on international stages.
