<\/p>\n\n\nSAN PEDRO DE MACOR\u00cdS.<\/strong> \u2013 The Estrellas Orientales<\/strong> started on the right foot the 2025-2026 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM)<\/strong> by defeating 7-3 the Toros del Este<\/strong>, in the inaugural game<\/strong> held at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium<\/strong>, in a tournament dedicated to the Cooperstown Immortal Juan Marichal<\/strong>.\n\n\n

The loss fell to the left-hander Matt Dermody (0-1, 18.00 ERA)<\/strong>, punished with six runs and six hits in three innings of work.\n\nThe green offensive was commanded by Rodolfo Castro<\/strong>, who hit a home run and drove in five runs, and Josh Lester<\/strong>, who contributed a home run, a double, two RBIs and a run scored. The greens extended their lead with an RBI single by Castro and a run-scoring double by Lester in the eighth inning.\n\nThe Toros scored with a double by F\u00e9lix Reyes<\/strong> that brought Gilberto Celestino<\/strong> to the plate, a solo home run by Celest\u00edn<\/strong> in the fifth inning and a sacrifice fly by Celest\u00edn himself in the seventh that allowed Marco Luciano<\/strong> to score.\n\n\n

Inaugural Act<\/h3>\n\n\nPrior to the start of the game, an emotional inaugural ceremony<\/strong> was held, led by Senator of San Pedro de Macor\u00eds, Aracelys Villanueva<\/strong>, who made the honorary pitch.
