The presentation was made by Michael Greenspon, of The New York Times.\n\n\n

“I want to thank the Inter American Press Association for many things for this recognition; it is a great honor to be here today and receive it on behalf of the foundation,” expressed Henr\u00edquez-Schmitz.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nAccording to the IAPA, “the Thomson Reuters Foundation has demonstrated an exemplary commitment to strengthening global journalism, offering training, tools, technical assistance and essential legal support to protect journalistic work and, with it, democracy.”\n\n\n

The Thomson Reuters Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the international media group, has developed multiple training initiatives, legal assistance, and support for journalists in risky environments, as well as promoting innovation programs to strengthen the ethics and sustainability of the media.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Among the personalities and institutions that have previously received the Chapultepec Grand Prize are: the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ); Martin Baron, former executive director of The Washington Post; the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press; Alberto Ibarg\u00fcen, former president and CEO of the Knight Foundation; the Colombian jurist Catalina Botero; the writer and Nobel laureate Mario Vargas Llosa; the human rights defender Jos\u00e9 Miguel Vivanco; the Inter-American Court of Human Rights; and the American journalists Anthony Lewis and Arthur O.
