Mauricio B\u00e1ez and San Carlos currently share the historical leadership with <strong>10 titles per team<\/strong>.\n\nThe Villa Juana team, monarch in 2023 and 2024, was one step away from achieving the three-peat under the direction of <strong>Melvyn L\u00f3pez<\/strong>, who would extend his record of crowns in the TBS Distrito to eight, a figure that already constitutes a record. If the title were to be achieved, it would also be the <strong>second time that Mauricio B\u00e1ez achieves three consecutive championships<\/strong>, a feat he previously achieved between 1984 and 1987.\n\nThe Francomacorisano reinforcement <strong>Luismal Ferreiras<\/strong>, nicknamed \u201cThe Beast of Jaya\u201d, repeated his dominant performance from Saturday and recorded <strong>his second consecutive double-double<\/strong>, with 20 points and 11 rebounds. He was followed by <strong>Gerardo Suero with 19 units<\/strong>, <strong>Richard Bautista with 12 points, five rebounds and nine assists<\/strong>, and <strong>Juan Miguel Suero<\/strong>, who added 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists.\n\nBy San Carlos, under the orders of the Santiago coach <strong>V\u00edctor Pe\u00f1a<\/strong>, <strong>Kevin Mateo stood out with 21 points<\/strong>, while <strong>Juan Guerrero added 20 units and 10 rebounds<\/strong>, and <strong>JJ Romer contributed 19 points and six captures<\/strong>.\n\nFormer Dominican NBA player, <strong>Charlie Villanueva<\/strong>, made the honorary tip-off to start the third quarter of the game, a gesture coordinated by the National District Basketball Association (Abadina). Villanueva is in the country after his induction this Sunday into the <strong>Dominican Sports Hall of Fame<\/strong> along with 11 other athletes and promoters.\n\nThe former player \u2014who played for the <strong>Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors and Dallas Mavericks<\/strong>\u2014 was accompanied by his wife <strong>Lala Villanueva<\/strong>, his brother <strong>Robert Villanueva<\/strong>, the player <strong>Esmery Mart\u00ednez<\/strong> and professor <strong>Fernando Teruel<\/strong>, as well as directors from Abadina and Fedombal.\n\nThe TBS District 2025 is organized by <strong>Abadina<\/strong>, chaired by Colonel <strong>Diego Pesqueira<\/strong>, while the <strong>Organizing Committee<\/strong> is headed by <strong>Jos\u00e9 Ignacio Paliza<\/strong>, Minister of the Presidency.
