SANTO DOMINGO.<\/strong> \u2013 The Leones del Escogido<\/strong> announced the hiring of right-handed pitcher Travis Lakins<\/strong> to reinforce their starting rotation, according to the Baseball Operations Management headed by general manager Carlos Pe\u00f1a<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may be interested in: <\/strong>Tigres del Licey announce their starting rotation for the weekend<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nLakins, 31 years old, comes from a standout performance in the 2024-25 season with the Criollos de Caguas<\/strong> in the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League (Puerto Rico), where he recorded a 3-2<\/strong> record, an ERA of 2.10<\/strong>, a WHIP of 1.07<\/strong>, and 34 strikeouts in 34.1 innings<\/strong>.\n\n\n

During the summer he made his debut in the Mexican Baseball League with the Algodoneros de Uni\u00f3n Laguna<\/strong>, concluding with a record of 9-3<\/strong>, 75 strikeouts in 95.1 innings<\/strong>, a shutout and an ERA of 4.72<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\nThe Lions’ new import also has experience in the Major Leagues, where he pitched between 2019 and 2022<\/strong> with the Boston Red Sox<\/strong> and the Baltimore Orioles<\/strong>. In 68 appearances he accumulated 87.1 innings<\/strong>, with an ERA of 4.84<\/strong> and 75 strikeouts<\/strong>.\n\n\n

His repertoire includes a four-seam fastball that reaches 93 mph<\/strong>, slider at 84 mph<\/strong>, changeup at 85 mph<\/strong>, curveball at 81 mph<\/strong> and sinker at 92 mph<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\nLakins will replace in the reinforcement roster the Panamanian infielder Jonathan Ara\u00faz<\/strong>, whose contract recently concluded with the scarlet squad.\n\n\n
