Santo Domingo, RD. \u2013<\/strong> National deputy Ram\u00f3n Raposo<\/strong> warned about the serious situation facing mental health in the country and the low budget allocated to a sector he described as deeply sensitive and a priority.<\/p>\n\n\nThe legislator of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD)<\/strong>, offered these statements during his participation in the program “El Rumbo de la Ma\u00f1ana”, hosted by Jos\u00e9 del Castillo, Virginia Antares, Rafael Paz, Julio Alberto Mart\u00ednez, Ernesto Jim\u00e9nez and Ju Sanz.<\/strong>\n\n\n

You may be interested in:<\/strong> FP Deputies urge the Government to apply salary indexation<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nDeputy Raposo detailed that according to specialists at least 20% of the population presents some type of mental illness and at least 300,000 people suffer from schizophrenia, of which only 150,000 are being medicated.\n\nThe legislator analyzed the challenges affecting thousands of Dominican families who depend on specialized psychological and psychiatric care services.\n\nThe deputy warned that the lack of resources allocated to this sector directly affects the functioning of public mental health centers, limits prevention programs, reduces access to specialized therapies, and hinders the hiring of qualified personnel.\n\nHe also indicated that the problem affects not only those who suffer from psychological disorders, but also families, communities, and the country’s social climate, generating consequences that are reflected in citizen coexistence, violence, productivity, and the emotional stability of young people.\n\nHe reiterated the need for the Dominican State to increase the budget allocated to mental health, strengthen community assistance programs, and create prevention and awareness campaigns throughout the national territory.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
