The Salom\u00e9 Ure\u00f1a de Henr\u00edquez Annual Poetry Award was given to the poet, narrator, playwright, and academic C\u00e9sar Israel S\u00e1nchez Beras for his work \u201cCiudad can\u00edbal\u201d.\n\nThe Annual Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n L\u00f3pez Short Story Award went to C\u00e9sar Augusto Zapata Santos, author of &#8220;Dreams are also mirrors.&#8221; Zapata is a poet, essayist, and narrator, with extensive teaching experience and a literary production that has been the subject of anthologies and reviews outside the country. Among his distinctions are the Casa de Teatro International Poetry Prize (2004) and the Pedro Mir Literature Prize on two occasions.\n\nOn his side, the Manuel de Jes\u00fas Galv\u00e1n Annual Novel Award was granted to Jes\u00fas Mar\u00eda P\u00e9rez Mart\u00ednez for &#8220;Espejuelos, n\u00e1ufrago en el mar Caribe&#8221;. The writer, born in Valencia and residing in the Dominican Republic, a country he considers his &#8220;literary homeland&#8221; since 1986, developed a journalistic career before dedicating himself to fiction.\n\nThe Crist\u00f3bal de Llerena Annual Theater Award recognized the play \u201cCr\u00f3nicas del aqu\u00ed y de ahora (Cr\u00f3nica del puente)\u201d, by playwright Ar\u00edstides Radham\u00e9s Polanco, whose career includes studies in pedagogy, theater and art history both in the country and in Europe, in addition to having a solid work as a professor, actor, director and researcher. The recognition was received by his son, Heliot Polanco Tineo.\n\nThe Pedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a Annual Essay Award was granted to Fernando de Jes\u00fas Reynoso Cabrera, author of \u201cThe Utopia of America in \u2018Leaves of Grass,\u2019 by Walt Whitman.\u201d Reynoso is a professor, poet, visual artist, and critic, with a career that integrates contributions to contemporary art, cultural management, and academic research, also being a member of the Dominican Academy of Language.\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For her part, the Aurora Tav\u00e1rez Belliard Annual Children&#8217;s and Youth Literature Award was granted to Brunilda Altagracia Contreras N\u00fa\u00f1ez for &#8220;From Juliana to Juli\u00e1n&#8221;. Contreras is a writer, communicator, and reading promotion specialist, with more than a dozen published titles and recognitions such as the National Library of Children&#8217;s Literature Award 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, the 2024 Jos\u00e9 Gabriel Garc\u00eda Annual History Award distinguished the research \u201cHistory of the Dominican-Haitian border\u201d, by Miguel Reyes S\u00e1nchez and Alberto Despradel Cabral. Reyes S\u00e1nchez is a historian, lawyer, and diplomat, author of more than 40 works and a two-time winner of this same award. Despradel Cabral, also a diplomat and historian, has been an ambassador in several countries.<\/p>\n\n\nThis award comes with a prize of 500,000 pesos, a certificate of recognition, and the publication of the work under the imprint of the National Publishing House. For their part, the winners of the different categories of the Annual Literature Awards will receive an endowment of 300,000 pesos, a certificate, and the publication of their works.\n\nThe act concluded with words of thanks on behalf of the awardees, spoken by the historian Miguel Reyes S\u00e1nchez, followed by a toast in honor of the winners.
