It seems that we will finally see a fourth installment of Rush Hour, again starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. According to Deadline \u2014and reported by El S\u00e9ptimo Arte\u2014 Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. have reached an agreement for Paramount to distribute the film on behalf of Warner, with a “double-digit distribution commission”.<\/p>\n
The agreement comes at an “intriguing” moment, as Paramount \u2014owned for a few months by David Ellison\u2014 is one of the companies that, along with others, would be considering the purchase of Warner Bros. Discovery.<\/p>\n
Apparently, the decision was made after the mediation of Donald Trump, who pressured the Ellison’s to revive a franchise that belonged to New Line Cinema \u2014a subsidiary of Warner Bros.\u2014 since Warner had no intention of producing a new film. The project had been for sale for at least a year without anyone showing interest until now.<\/p>\n
The director of the previous three films, Brett Ratner, will be at the helm of the new film. Ratner was accused of sexual assault in 2017 by a person named Melanie Kohler, during the expansion of the #MeToo movement. Ratner denied the accusations and filed a defamation lawsuit; both parties reached an agreement in the fall of 2018. Subsequently, Warner would break ties with his production company, RatPac Entertainment.<\/p>\n
Ratner hasn’t directed a fiction film since 2014 \u2014 when he worked on Hercules \u2014 although he recently directed a documentary about Trump’s wife, scheduled to be released in US cinemas on January 30, 2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
