Santo Domingo<\/strong>. – The Ministry of Women, for the fifth consecutive year, is carrying out the Door-to-Door “Living without violence IS POSSIBLE” campaigns, with the aim of contributing to the awareness and guidance of Dominican society in the prevention of violence against women and domestic violence, the promotion of a culture of peace and the dissemination of violence prevention and care services.<\/p>\n

During this month, the days have traveled communities in the east, north and south, and today culminate simultaneously in Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata. In the province of Santo Domingo in which we seek to reach more than 940 thousand people.<\/p>\n

The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Pe\u00f1a, highlighted the work of the Ministry of Women to carry this message of prevention throughout the territory and the importance of working with all of society to eradicate violence, a scourge that affects the entire population. She also reaffirmed the commitment, under the leadership of President Luis Abinader, to continue promoting public policies for the protection, training, and development of Dominican women.<\/p>\n

Through these actions, which are especially reinforced during the month of November of non-violence against women, the Ministry of Women seeks to strengthen society’s commitment to the eradication of all forms of violence.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Women, Mayra Jim\u00e9nez, pointed out that these days are framed within the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in commemoration and honor of Patria, Minerva, and Mar\u00eda Teresa Mirabal. She added that on this date, 4,944,114 people have been impacted, equivalent to 46% of the Dominican population, 525,347 homes and businesses, as well as other strategic points and public and private spaces. Within this framework, 481 cases of violence have been detected, which were revealed from the communities.<\/p>\n

In 2025 in the province of Santo Domingo, 2,078 psychological assistances have been offered, 16,237 legal assistances, 220 sentences have been obtained, and a total of 9,136 people have been impacted through training and awareness campaigns.<\/p>\n

As in previous conferences, focused actions related to the prevention of adolescent pregnancy have been incorporated, given that this problem constitutes a form of violence, especially directed towards girls and adolescents.<\/p>\n

During the month of November, these conferences have been held in the country’s provinces, guiding, raising awareness, and distributing materials with the essential services of the Ministry of Women for legal and psychological assistance, the Emergency Line *212, and the Shelters, which operate confidentially, free of charge, and available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, guiding, assisting, and coordinating rescues and transfers in cases that warrant it.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Women, in line with the public policies developed for the eradication of violence against women, continues to bet on coexistence in harmony in families, in communities, in public spaces, in work environments, and in all development spaces, with the purpose of guaranteeing the full exercise of their rights and the construction of a life free of violence and discrimination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
