They later killed a woman from a neighboring house<\/strong> who apparently had gone out into the street to say that there were children sleeping inside her home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In this case, they are collateral victims, which is regrettable. Unfortunately, the minimum codes they (criminal groups) have regarding respect for women or the elderly could not be observed in these scenarios,” Soria assured, confirming that none of the people killed had a criminal record.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nOne person survived this armed attack, whose testimony will be vital to advance the investigations to clarify the motives for the murders, the commander affirmed.\n\n\n

Until October, 533 murders were recorded in this place out of the 2,129 that were counted throughout the city, according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior.\n\nEcuador has been living since 2024 under an “internal armed conflict” declared by President Daniel Noboa to intensify the fight against criminal gangs, to which the Government attributes the unprecedented escalation that the Andean country has been experiencing in recent years, which in 2025 registers an average of one murder per hour.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
