The institution continues to bring its services closer to communities to guarantee comprehensive care, dignity, and protection to the elderly of the country.<\/p>\n
The National Council for the Elderly (Conape) held two social inclusion days in the Southwest region of the country, benefiting 783 older adults with medical and dental care, medication delivery, psychological counseling, and social assistance. In addition, participants were evaluated to identify their needs, social risks, and levels of dependency.<\/p>\n
The first took place at the Multiuso Rafael\u00edn Hern\u00e1ndez, in the municipality of Neiba, Bahoruco province, where 400 senior citizens from various communities attended. The second was held at the Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez High School, in the Municipal District of Arroyo Cano, in the province of San Juan, benefiting 383 elderly people.<\/p>\n
These activities were supported by provincial and municipal authorities, who expressed their interest in continuing to support initiatives that improve the quality of life of the elderly. Representatives from the Special Fund for Development, Edesur, the National Housing Institute, the Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Food, and the National Police also participated.<\/p>\n
During each day, senior adults received talks about Law 352-98 on Protection for the Elderly, and those who needed it received support devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, and canes, reaffirming Conape’s commitment to the inclusion, well-being, and dignity of older people.<\/p>\n
In addition, registrations for SeNaSa Insurance, requests for solidarity pensions, and delivery of food rations were carried out, both in person and at home for those who could not travel. The services were offered by a multidisciplinary team made up of doctors, psychologists, and social workers from Conape and the daily homes of each community.<\/p>\n
In representation of the executive director of Conape, doctor Demetrio Vicente, Mr. George Clemente George was present, who reaffirmed the commitment of the Dominican Government, on behalf of President Luis Abinader, to ensure that every senior citizen lives with dignity, protected and accompanied.<\/p>\n
Along with Mr. Clemente George, Jos\u00e9 Est\u00e9vez, in charge of Culture, Education and Recreation, also participated; Luis \u00c1ngel Santo, social assistance assistant, among other members of the coordinating committee of the conferences.<\/p>\n
In Neiba, the activity was supported by Senator Guillermo Lama; the mayor of Villa Jaragua, Iv\u00e1n Ar\u00edstides Medina; as well as deputies Juan Bol\u00edvar Cuevas and Olfani M\u00e9ndez.<\/p>\n
In Arroyo Cano, support was offered by the mayor of the Municipal District of Yaque, Joaqu\u00edn de la Cruz, and leaders Policarpo S\u00e1nchez and Pedro F\u00e9lix Abreu, among other personalities who contributed so that each elderly person received the care they are entitled to by law.<\/p>\n
These conferences are part of the national program that seeks to bring services to senior citizens in each province. CONAPE will continue to be developed in different parts of the country with the purpose of strengthening social inclusion, autonomy and the enthusiastic participation of senior citizens, promoting intergenerational coexistence and respect for their fundamental rights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
