However, the cost of these treatments, added to the lack of medical insurance for the baby, has made the expenses unsustainable for the family.\n\n\n

Other tests such as the cephalogram, used to evaluate the nervous system, cost RD$4,500, and certain spinal studies reach up to RD$12,000.\n\n\n

“A year ago I had to find a sum of money that I didn’t have to cover an urgent procedure. I could only deposit 150 thousand so that they would attend to my baby,” she reported.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Regarding how she has been able to cope, Yesenia states that it depends on the support of her mother and the girl’s father, who, she says, “is an excellent father who helps with what he can.” However, she acknowledges that there are days when she doesn’t even have the basics<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There are nights when my baby doesn’t sleep from pain and complains without being able to say where it hurts; that breaks my heart.
