The work has been edited by the Sial Pigmali\u00f3n Editorial Group, from Spain.\n\nThe event was led by Basilio Rodr\u00edguez Ca\u00f1ada, president of the publishing house, who highlighted the cultural relevance of the work and its character as a publishing novelty. With a warm and close speech, he emphasized that Tav\u00e1rez “is a multifaceted figure, with a solid Hispanic academic background, widely recognized in the Caribbean for his work as a communicator.”\n\nIn turn, the academic and writer Marino Beriguete, responsible for introducing the work, offered a detailed profile of the author. He highlighted his career as a political analyst, teacher, and researcher, as well as his dedication of more than a decade to the study of the complex historical relationship between the Dominican Republic and Haiti.\n\n\n

He moved the audience by narrating the story of his mother, who was only able to attend up to fourth grade of primary school, an inspiration that drove him to train academically until he achieved multiple master’s degrees in law, communication, digital journalism, and transmedia.\n\nThe author managed to attract an audience that filled the seats and a good part stopped to listen to the dissertation in which he reflected on the sense of transcendence that led him to write and choose communication as his main career. “Communication allowed me to turn my ideas into a tool for social transformation,” he maintained, highlighting the role of journalism in denunciation, transparency, and the defense of the public interest.\n\nThe presented work, the result of three years of study, delves into the 221 years of Haitian history and its impact on the political and social evolution of the Dominican Republic. Tav\u00e1rez presented to the public the central premise of the book: two Siamese nations, united by geography and separated by historical and political paths that have fueled tensions, misunderstandings, and mutual symbolic burdens.\n\nThe audience enthusiastically welcomed the author’s proposal, who suggests a critical but also humanist and documented analysis of the bilateral relationship. “We Dominicans have been supportive of Haiti, even when a part of its population has believed in a black legend that blames us for their tragedy,” he pointed out.\n\nThe presentation concluded with prolonged applause.
