<\/p>\n\n\nNew Delhi (EFE).- Indian child Sarwagya Singh Kushwaha, only three years old, has become the youngest chess player in the world to enter the ranking of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), after achieving this Friday his first official rating in approved tournaments.\n\nYou may be interested in:Aguilas maintain dominance and Jerar Encarnaci\u00f3n guides 4-2 victory over Licey<\/a>\n\nWith three years, seven months and 20 days, the youngest achieved an initial rating of 1,572 points in the rapid mode, after defeating several players already classified in competitions held recently in India.\n\n\n

Until now, the record was held by another Indian child, Anish Sarkar, who established it at three years, eight months and 19 days, in November 2024, in a succession of precocity records in the country.<\/p>\n\n\nThe minor’s father, Siddharth Singh Kushwaha, expressed the family’s pride in the achievement.\n\n“It is a great pride and an honor for us that our son has become the youngest chess player in the world to achieve a FIDE rating,” he told the Indian television channel ETV Bharat. “We want him to become a grandmaster.”\n\n\n

Chess as a Way to Reduce Screen Time<\/h2>\n\n\nAs they explained, their contact with chess began as a way to reduce their time in front of screens.\n\nThe FIDE rating is the international system that measures the level of players based on their results in official tournaments. The title of grandmaster is the highest recognition in professional chess, reserved for a world elite.\n\nSarwagya’s case adds to the growing list of young talents who are consolidating India as one of the great emerging powers of world chess, with figures like Viswanathan Anand as a historical reference and a new generation of prodigies on the rise.\n\nIn November, India hosted the FIDE World Cup, held for almost a month with more than 200 elite players and which ended with the victory of the Uzbek chess player Javokhir Sindarov, after defeating the Chinese Wei Yi in the final.\n\n\n
