Hondo Valle.- The Minister of Public Works, Eduardo Estrella, stated that the new El Cercado-Hondo Valle highway represents a strategic work for development, security, and national sovereignty, highlighting its high construction standard and the direct impact on the quality of life of the benefited communities.<\/p>\n
“The road is 22.4 kilometers long, but when we add the streets involved in El Cercado, Hondo Valle, Juan Santiago and other communities, there are more kilometers of streets than the road itself,” explained Estrella, detailing that the project included 8.5 kilometers in El Cercado, 7.1 in Hondo Valle, 3.1 in Juan Santiago and about 7.5 additional kilometers on different roads.<\/p>\n
The official indicated that it is a complex infrastructure, built to respond to the climatic conditions of the area. “This is not just any road. It is a road with 20 bridges and almost 60 culverts, because this is one of the areas with the most water crossings and where it rains the most in the country,” he pointed out.<\/p>\n
Estrella assured that the work was executed with high quality standards, including four inches of asphalt and the removal of inadequate material in the sections where it was necessary. “Here a road was made as this area deserved,” he affirmed.<\/p>\n
During his speech, the minister highlighted the significant reduction in travel time between this region and Santo Domingo. “Before, the journey could take around six and a half hours. Today, thanks to this road and other works such as the Azua and Ban\u00ed bypasses, people are arriving in four hours or four hours and five minutes,” he specified.<\/p>\n
In that sense, he emphasized that “achieving more than two hours less transit is called quality of life and thinking about people.” The head of Public Works framed the work within the government’s vision of President Luis Abinader for the integral development of the border.<\/p>\n
“Here we are not only building a border wall; we are raising a wall of development,” he expressed. Estrella highlighted that the improvement in connectivity will allow for greater social and economic dynamism.<\/p>\n
“People who used to come once a year or every two years will now be able to come more frequently, at Easter and during school holidays, because the journey is no longer so difficult,” he said. He also called on the population to take care of the new road infrastructure.<\/p>\n
“You have to become the first defenders of this road. Drainage is key: if there is no drainage, there is no road,” he warned, recalling that the durability of the work depends on the good management of sewers and drains.<\/p>\n
In other news, the minister announced the bidding for several complementary works. “The Rompadero bridge, the Sabana Larga bridge and the Guayajayuco bridge are already in the bidding process, a necessary work to guarantee security, connectivity and sovereignty,” he informed.<\/p>\n
Finally, he assured that as of January the national asphalt plan in communities and municipal roads will be intensified. “We are going to continue improving people’s living conditions and maintaining existing roads,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
