Washington.- <\/strong>The President of the United States, Donald Trump,<\/a> wants to continue destroying vessels supposedly loaded with drugs in the Caribbean until the Venezuelan president, Nicol\u00e1s Maduro, “surrenders”, said the White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles, in an interview published this Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\nSince September, a strong U.S. military deployment has destroyed about twenty boats in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, near Venezuela and Colombia, extrajudicially killing more than 80 people whom Washington describes as “narco-terrorists”.\n\n\n

And people much smarter than me in that respect say he will,” Wiles said in an interview with Vanity Fair.\n\nAccording to the magazine, the statements from Trump’s right-hand man seem to “contradict the official government stance that blowing up ships is a matter of drug interdiction, not the pursuit of regime change” in Venezuela.\n\nThe Donald Trump administration accuses Maduro of leading a drug trafficking network dubbed the Cartel of the Suns, something Caracas vehemently denies, and offers a reward of up to 50 million dollars for information leading to the capture of the Venezuelan leader.\n\nTrump has promised that attacks against drug trafficking within Venezuelan territory will begin “soon,” while Maduro has called on his citizens to unite against American threats and enlist in citizen militias.\n\nDespite the tension, Trump and Maduro held a phone conversation in November, the details of which have not been disclosed.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
