Santo Domingo.\u2013<\/strong> The Senate of the Republic approved this Tuesday, in a single discussion, two international financing agreements submitted by the Executive Branch, for more than RD$15 billion, which had been previously known and sanctioned by the Chamber of Deputies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first of the loans corresponds to the loan agreement, signed on April 9, 2025 between the Dominican Republic and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), for an amount of up to 10,930 million Japanese yen (RD$4,731.35 million) destined for the Agricultural Financing Improvement Project for the Strengthening of the Food Value Chain.<\/p>\n\n\nAccording to the initiative, the resources will be executed by the Ministry of Agriculture and will be aimed at improving access to financing for the agricultural sector, with the aim of strengthening the production, productivity, and sustainability of the country’s food value chain.\n\nYou can also read: https:\/\/ab.deultimominuto.net\/nacionales\/senado-aprueba-de-urgencia-presupuesto-general-del-estado-2026-con-el-rechazo-de-la-oposicion\/<\/a>\n\nThe agreement stipulates that disbursements will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions agreed upon by both parties and the current regulations of Japan.\n\nThe second approved financing corresponds to the loan agreement signed on May 28, 2025 between the Dominican Republic and the French Development Agency (AFD), for an amount of USD$178,374,339.00, or its equivalent in euros, for the Santo Domingo Metro Line 2 Transportation Capacity Expansion Project.\n\nThis loan will be executed by the Office for the Reordering of Transportation (OPRET) and aims to respond to the increased demand of the mass transit system.
