Trump’s Executive Order Against Electric Vehicles<\/h2>\n\n\nIn that sense, California Governor, Democrat Gavin Newsom, said that with 2.4 million EVs on the state’s roads and projects ready to move forward, he is willing to fight in court to obtain the funds and approvals.\n\nThe grants are part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), approved by Congress in 2022.\n\nThe U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) have not delivered the funds under both programs since the spring of 2025, according to the lawsuit.\n\nSpecifically, one of the programs allocates 2.5 billion in discretionary funds to state and local governments for electric vehicle charging infrastructure and hydrogen supply, while the second provides grants to states and municipalities for the repair and maintenance of electric vehicle chargers.\n\nOn the first day of his government, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to “cancel” the Green New Deal, ordering federal agencies to stop the disbursement of funds approved under the Biden administration’s flagship law (2021-2025).\n\nThe states of Washington, Arizona, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania are also part of the lawsuit.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
