Today we celebrate those who, with their work, make good practices visible and promote a constructive conversation about sustainable development\u201d, said Jos\u00e9 Ra\u00fal Gonz\u00e1lez, CEO of Progreso.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe works presented this year addressed essential themes such as environment, sustainable innovation, community development, governance, equity, and citizen participation.\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>You may be interested in: <a href=\"https:\/\/ab.deultimominuto.net\/nacionales\/progreso-llama-periodistas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Progreso calls on journalists to participate in Regional Award<\/a><\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each piece was evaluated by a high-level international jury, made up of specialists in journalism, communication and sustainability, who highlighted the quality, depth and creativity of the content.<br><br><strong>Winners and recognitions of the fifth edition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\nIn the 2025 edition, four recognitions were awarded, accompanied by statuettes designed by the Guatemalan artist Romi Maegli. The pieces, made with sustainable materials and textures that evoke concrete, symbolize the resilience, solidity, and impact of journalism in sustainability.\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>The winners of this edition were:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>First Place<\/strong> (USD$5,000) was awarded to Catalina Fabbri, from Costa Rica, who presented the report entitled \u201cA 32-degree disease: the marine fever that suffocates the reefs in Golfo Dulce\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Second Place<\/strong> (Macbook Air) was obtained by <strong>Karla Alc\u00e1ntara<\/strong>, from the Dominican Republic, with the piece \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/acento.com.do\/ecologia\/conservar-para-no-perder-la-carrera-contrarreloj-por-proteger-los-nidos-de-tortuga-9508987.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/acento.com.do\/ecologia\/conservar-para-no-perder-la-carrera-contrarreloj-por-proteger-los-nidos-de-tortuga-9508987.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Conserving to avoid losing: the race against the clock to protect turtle nests<\/a>\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Third Place<\/strong> (SONY camera for video blogs) went to the Guatemalan journalists Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Aresti, Braulio Palacios, Miguel Rodr\u00edguez, Vinizzio Rizzo, Angie Guerra and Luis de Le\u00f3n, who presented the report \u201cGuatemala shows that sustainable logging is reconciling with the forest\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the student category, the winner of a DJI image stabilizer and publication of their work in Granito de Arena was Esteban Chac\u00f3n Rojas, with the piece \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LFGc3X9YukI\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LFGc3X9YukI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The conquest of the ball<\/a>: Towards the sustainability of women&#8217;s football in Costa Rica\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>2025 Regional Journalism Award in Sustainability<\/strong> strengthens Progreso&#8217;s vision as a company committed to creating shared value and promoting sustainable practices at the social, economic, and environmental levels.
