Pavel Núñez and his BipolarBand’s concert at Hard Rock Café was one of the latter, an emotional journey where each song functioned as a chapter of an intimate story, shared without artifice with an audience willing to sing, remember and feel.

From the first chords of “Lo que te gusta”, at 10:25 p.m., @pavelnunez made it clear that Monday night would be governed by total surrender. The song, almost turned into a manifesto, opened the show with a declaration of unconditional love, the one where “what it doesn’t have I invent, but I will give it to you”, while the band built a warm and complicit atmosphere that would be maintained throughout the concert, which featured the executive production of Ricky Nadal and the artistic production of Concepto Atariva SDQ, led by Fiora Cruz Carretero.

You may be interested in: Pavel Núñez pays tribute to Rubby Pérez and Víctor Víctor in his “Bipolarband” concert

With “Fiesta para dos”, the Hard Rock Café transformed into a hall where music was a couple, memory, and farewell. Pavel narrated with voice and body the story of a love that begins illuminated and ends in silence, leaving the audience suspended between applause and nostalgia.

Throughout the night, tributes were present as a gesture of gratitude and remembrance, paying tribute to Johnny Ventura, Rubby Pérez, Víctor Víctor, and Diomedes Núñez, among other heroes of Dominican music.

The BipolarBand, the backbone of the show, precise and elegant, accompanied each emotional turn with arrangements that breathed jazz, bolero, ballad, urban and tropical song, composed of Vicky María Concepción (chorus), Álvaro Dinzey (piano), Jean Cuevas (keyboard and accordion), Otoniel Nicolás (drums), Félix Antuna and Johnny Martínez (percussion), Junior Félix (guitar), David Vásquez (bass), Máximo Núñez and Andrés González Díaz (trumpets), Luis Armando Rengel (trombone), Remy Vargas and Windel Sax (saxophones).

In each segment of the concert, Pavel Núñez’s musical maturity was clearly manifested with an artistic freedom that allowed him to effortlessly transition from bolero and ballad to bachata, from merengue to salsa, turning the repertoire into a true roller coaster of emotions. That versatility offered the audience a staging different from anything the singer-songwriter had presented before, where each change of rhythm was also an emotional change experienced by the fans.

Before “Ay mujer”, Pavel appealed to the word as a bridge. He quoted Silvio Rodríguez and Juan Luis Guerra to talk about love without cowardice, of simple and profound love, and then he sang. The song rose as one of the most intense moments of the concert.

The show progressed with confidences and a precise dose of humor, a resource that Pavel used to generate closeness and complicity with the audience. In one of the most contagious dialogues, he recalled his childhood, his admiration for Dionis Fernández and that early vocation of “being Dionis Fernández’s singer”, stopping to reflect on the transcendence of fundamental figures of merengue who, in his opinion, have not always received fair recognition within Dominican musical history. Immediately afterwards, he surrendered to “Loco loco”, provoking dancing, laughter and a collective catharsis.

Songs like “Me desarmo”, “Bethania”, “Quédate” and “Santiago de frente” reinforced the confessional character of the concert. In “Hoy me doy cuenta” and “Y así”, the typical merengue became a danced reflection, confirming that the artistic identity of Pavel Núñez recognizes no genre boundaries.

The romantic block reached one of its peaks with “I die for her” and “I love you”, performed with a dedication that disarmed the audience. Here the BipolarBand showed all its versatility, moving from the ballad to the son, from the whisper to the multitudinous chorus, while the audience made each of the lyrics their own.

The salsa turn arrived with “Hasta el sol de hoy”, preceded by an ingenious reflection on the long calls of unrequited love and the voice messages of the “bótao”. Salsa and heartbreak, dance and melancholy coexisted without contradiction, reaffirming the central thesis of the concert that love, like life, is also bipolar.
In the final stretch, the contagious energy of “Buscando guayaba” caught the audience between dances and collective choruses. “Te di”, first on guitar and then in a typical version, sealed the complicity of the crowd with the renowned singer-songwriter.

The closing, with a salsa medley and another dedicated to Sergio Vargas’s repertoire, was pure celebration where Pável reinterpreted himself, dialogued, and thanked the audience that did not disconnect from the concert until 12:30 in the morning, after more than two hours of music and shared emotions.

The concert was supported by Claro, the National District Council, Color Visión and the López Group, through Disco 106, Escape 88.9 and Fuego 90, as well as allies Rental Vision, La Oreja Media Group, Quesqueya and Dominicana FM.

This event is part of a particularly significant year for the singer-songwriter. Since the beginning of 2025, Pavel Núñez has been celebrating his 25 years of artistic career, with a four-month residency, to a full house, at Casa de Teatro, entitled “Como todo empezó, 25 años más tarde” (How it all began, 25 years later), and a grand concert last July 25th at the Teatro La Fiesta of the Jaragua hotel, with which he celebrated two decades of his emblematic album Atlantis.

Pavel Núñez and his BipolarBand closes this cycle as a bet that broadens his artistic profile and opens doors to new scenarios, including corporate spaces and private celebrations, without renouncing the essence that has defined him.

Santo Domingo.- There are concerts that are heard and others that are lived.
