You may be interested in:<\/strong> OAS report highlights country’s progress in institutional matters<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nThe pronouncement of the MOE\/OAS comes after the attack on Monday against militants of the conservative National Party, three of whom were injured at the end of their day in the special scrutiny carried out by the National Electoral Council (CNE).\n\nThe incident was recorded near the Electoral Logistics Center (CLE), where the electoral material is stored, when representatives of the National Party were about to board a bus, after participating in the special recount of 2,792 records with inconsistencies from the general elections of November 30, which began on the 18th, with a five-day delay.\n\nThe OAS mission also expressed its wish for the speedy recovery of the injured and noted that its teams will continue to observe the final phase of the scrutiny, for which they will reinforce their security protocols according to the circumstances.\n\nThe special scrutiny is advancing slowly and keeps the National Party candidate, Nasry ‘Tito’ Asfura, backed by US President Donald Trump, at the head of the presidential race, according to preliminary data from the CNE, in a climate of political tension and calls to speed up the process.\n\nAsfura leads with 1,470,188 votes (40.29%), closely followed by Salvador Nasralla, of the Liberal Party, with 1,441,783 votes (39.52%), according to the results of the CNE, which has until December 30 to officialize the count.\n\nThe candidate of the Libre party, Rixi Moncada, who does not recognize the results and has requested the annulment of the elections, occupies the third position with 700,043 marks (19.18%), after the scrutiny of 99.92% of the records.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
